Brassiere

Brassiere?
is an article of clothing that covers, supports, and elevates the breasts. Since the late 19th century, it has replaced the corset as the most widely accepted method for supporting a woman's breasts. Bras are these days worn by women in almost all parts of the world.

I have had emails and comments from girls asking what bra am i use, probably cause i am always in strapless tops and dresses. So i thought i would do up a post just for Bras.

To my knowledge and also usage, I only have 2 kinds of bras in my wardrobe, Demi bra and the strapless bra.

Demi (3/4 bra)

The edges of the cups are diagonal: high at the armpits, low at the bridge (center). Reveals the top part of the breasts. Straps are attached at the sides of the cup, close to the armpit. Supports breasts from the bottom-side.

(Also argued by many that Demi bra is a half cup bra), gives three quarters of coverage of the breasts and this gives it a sexier look and feel. The half cup still gives great support while still being very fashionable and youthful. These bras are ideal for younger wearers or those that still have firm breasts and they can help to give the look of more cleavage. They are ideal to wear with any clothing even (sleeved) low front cut tops and dresses.

Balconette (Strapless Bra)

Of all bra styles, the strapless bra is the most technically challenging to design. Without straps, they must rely completely on the strength of the fabric, the design of the band, and the shape of the underwires to stay in place and provide support. A strapless bra without underwires is a bandeau and has no significant support.

The most successful strapless bras have a wide band; boning under the arms and at the center front; deep underwires; gripper-like silicone strips along the inside to reduce slippage; and special elastic with exposed small rubber loops to help grip. Some strapless bras also put boning in the cups. Such boning gives additional support to larger breasts.

Even with all this technology and sophisticated designing, a strapless bra will always be a little uncomfortable and need to be pulled up throughout the evening if the wearer is active.

Moving forward, the brands that i always favor are;

I like Wacoal for their ever so sweet lacey designs!

Victoria's Secret for their anti slip tapes around!!

And i always make sure i try on the bras before making a purchase. Especially so for strapless bras. Its important to make sure that it fits well before checkout. What i usually do is to remove the straps and (ridiculously) jump once or twice to see if it slips easily. Hahahaha! But, better jump then to waste money right!

Its also important to know your exact cup/length size. Get the saleslady to have yours measured. A perfect bra fit wouldn't keep going up at the back (if you know what i mean). If your bra keeps going onwards at the back (with straps on), it means you got a size too big probably.
I hope this helps! (:

♥Zoe Raymond: I already said where i get mine from in this post babe! The prices ranges from $30plus-$100? Victoria's Secrets the most expensive, whereas Triumph is the cheaper lot. Wacoal is somewhere in between.

You can find Triumph and Wacoal almost anywhere. Isetan, BHG even Takashimaya has a Wacoal standalone (:

This bra is not only comfortable but provides great support. I am a 36 D and always have challenges finding a strapless that will provide comfort and support. Liked it so much I will buy wonderbra bras
