Grandparents' 51st Wedding Anniversary.

It was Grandparents' 51st Wedding Anniversary on the 31st of December (yes! New Year Eve) at Long Beach Dempsey. The last time we dined at Long Beach together was at least 2 years ago. And now we are back! (:

Polka Dot Swing Dress is from Hollyhoque! When Mei Wei posted pictures of this dress on Instagram, I knew I had to get 1 for myself. This is one of the dresses I picked up from Hollyhoque Boutique with my girls.

Gu Zhang, Yuxin and Gugu Julie

Food was served very quickly!

Sweet n Sour Fish Fillets

Dong Po Pork Ribs

This is one of the must order dishes from Long Beach. The sauce is really tasty and 1 will never be enough!

3 Eggs and Vegetables Soup.

And Crabs!!! The main highlight of the dinner. We ordered 3 different types of crab dishes because we all love crabs! (:

Black Pepper Crab

Long Beach's Signature Chili Crab

My family usually order the tomato crab when we dine at Long Beach because we can't really take spicy. Tomato crabs are usually not in the menu, but available upon request.

Salted Egg Crab

Long Beach's Salted Egg Crabs are on the dry side so you can actually eat big pieces of salted egg in this dish. I prefer my salted egg crabs more buttery and watery so I can dip fried man tou into it. Irvin's Salted Egg Crabs are the best I had by far.

Fried Man Tou!

I remember always eating these mini Man Tou with my crabs as I was growing up. But a lot of restaurants now serve their man tou huge, palm sized. I still prefer mine smaller so not too gelak.

Dinner ended with complimentary dessert.

Sea Coconut with Almond Jelly and Longan.

And more pictures with the family after dinner! (:

The granddaughters.

Ah Gong took the specs and wore on his own lol! So cute!

my turn with Ah Gong and Ah Ma.

Happy 51st Wedding Anniversary Ah Gong and Ah Ma! We love you! (:

Having had so much crabs in a day, I did a little google search on benefits of Crabs which is an excellent addition to a healthy eating plan.
  1. Low in calories with only around 85-90 per 100g (depending on crab type).
  2. Does contain some fat, but generally unsaturated fat which is considered heart healthy.
  3. A natural source of omega-3 fatty acids, which can help to improve memory, decrease the chances of having a heart attack, decrease risk of cancer, and possibly help to improve depression and anxiety.
  4. Low risk seafood for mercury.
  5. Good source of vitamins A, C and the B vitamins including B12, and minerals like zinc and copper.
  6. Source of selenium, which may be a means of preventing cancer.
  7. Has some chromium, which is considered a useful mineral if you have insulin resistance, as it may improve blood sugar metabolism.

The benefits applies if crab is taken without all our favorite sauces, so go easy on dipping! (:

Got to take a picture with Zonia and Mama because we were all in pink! :D
