Visiting Seoul, Korea!

photo 1 (13)

Just last month, it was an exciting month for me cause I traveled quite a bit! One of the exciting destinations was Seoul, Korea. It's my second time visiting Korea and I am still very much in love with this country.

Visited Hollyhoque's boutique at Far East Plaza a day before I flew. Got this Panel bag which is retail exclusive. The bag comes with a sling and it's really spacious, I love spacious bags for holidays so I can put in all my barang barang/ shopping loots! The material is fab fab so it's sturdy!

Seated with the boys, Eugene and Melvin!

Love these two boys cause they make work so fun! The three of us spend a lot of time together, we watch movies, go for dinners and long gatherings over drinks after work. Thank you, for making work so enjoyable! ((:

It was a 6 hours flight to Seoul, pretty long but time passed pretty quickly cause I watched 2 movies, slept for an hour and had a meal and a snack on flight. Not forgetting a lot of crap talk with the boys.

Arriving in Seoul...

Welcome to Abacus International Conference 2012!

So we got the first flight out and arrived in Seoul at around 2 PM. My clients and bosses were there for Abacus International Conference while Eugene, Veronica and I went exploring Seoul! Teehee.

This pretty Korean lady in her hanbok greeted us at the arrival hall and gave us a wrist band each.

We checked into Lotte Hotel Seoul, dropped our stuff and had a rest before heading out for dinner.

Some pictures of the room! Not exactly the most affordable hotel around, but it's really convenient and big!

:D :D

Remember i said the hotel is very convenient? It's right smacked above a shopping centre! Lotte Town has got a lot of food, shopping mall, huge supermarket. So definitely recommended!

So many people!

Eugene was so excited cause he's a true K-Pop fan lolol. He goes around snapping pictures of K-Pop groups like his all-time favorite Girls Generation, SNSD. SNSG is also the ambassadors of Lotte Town so there were a lot of pictures of the girls, all the way to the shopping paper bags!

See we so happy! ((:

Met up with the rest of them after they finished their Welcome dinner and we headed to Hongdae. We checked with the very polite and helpful customer services officers and they recommended Hongdae as that's their clubbing district! We took a taxi down and it cost about ₩150,000 which is about SGD$15. Pretty alright for a 30 minutes ride for 4 pax. Our usual rides were no more than SGD$10.

We decided on nb2 hiphop club which stands for Noise Basement' of Hongdae!

IMG_4054

Another reason why we chose nb2 was because it has the most crowd of the district! Look at this on a Wednesday night!

Hello to one of the cuter boys around lol

the boys

Entrance tickets was just SGD$10 and it includes a drink as well.

IMG_4062

The crowd was generally young and they really dance, Synchronized dancing! Which means when a music goes on, everyone knows exactly which step to move gosh.

Nice Japanese Restaurant

IMG_4086

The place is cosy and big. But the bad thing is, the menu is in Korean and the waiters can't speak English. So here's the only thing we could order sigh....

And the boy does that to every person he meets in Korea!

IMG_4088

We then took a taxi back to the hotel and continued for awhile in the room before we went to bed at almost 3am!

Since we are on taxis, a taxi direct to Seoul will cost around ₩50,000/70,000 regular/deluxe. Black deluxe taxis (모범 택시) and almost all regular taxis accept credit cards, but a few regular taxis (일반 택시) may not. Ask the driver before you get on if you can pay by credit card. You are expected to pay any road tolls on top of the meter fare.

Having your destination written down in Korean will be very helpful. Steer clear of taxi drivers trying to pick you up from inside the terminal and even the bus stop. Source: Wiki Travel

My colleagues had a bad experience with one of the other taxis in Seoul. Do avoid taking the bigger taxis that can sit 5-6 pax. A trip from Lotte Hotel Seoul to Dongdaemun cost SGD$100! A usual trip in the regular cabs will cost about SGD$5 considering that the distance is so short.

Here's Day 1 of Visiting Seoul, Korea! I was there for 5 days, so more posts to come! Please wait up! (:
